OH senior Kyle Allard, a photographer for The Reflector student yearbook, is passionate about photography and has shown his talent in the Oswego community.

“Kyle is always trying to find new things to widen his creativity,” junior Josie Eggert said. Allard is a creative person and very passionate about his interests. He is currently enrolled in the National Arts Honor Society and a new member of the Quill and Scroll National Journalism Honor Society.

“My mother always loved showing people the results of her photographs,” Allard said.  His inspiration for photography started from a young age, and he was influenced by his mother. “I take photos to capture special moments,” said Allard.

Allard’s mom helped him start photography by giving him a camera when he was only 14 years old. Allard started to pick up more interest in photography as he got older.

“I did not do much with it because I never really had the right opportunity,” Allard explained. That didn’t stop him though, Allard’s family pushed him to get out, go to events, and share the moments he captured with them when he got back home.

Allard loves to capture the emotions of people and the fast action. Football games are one of his favorite events to capture. Allard wanted to capture students’ spirits to share these lively moments with others.

Allard continued his journey in photography when he joined the staff of The Reflector this year through Yearbook Journalism 1.  This course opened up new opportunities to get a more hands-on experience at school events. Allard’s classmates admire the way Kyle takes photos in class.

Allard uses Instagram (@kyallard21) as a platform to allow students at OH to look at some events he attended and maybe even see themselves in.

By extending his photography skills in the school, he can work in and out of school on perfecting his craft. Outside of school, he takes numerous photographs for senior photos.

OH senior Ryder Lindahl said, “I am very happy with the way the pictures turned out. He went onto the ice to take pictures and I thought that was so cool,“ said Lindahl, a member of the Oswego Hockey Club.

Allard said he has been able to grow so much in the past year and work toward achieving the passion he has had since photography was first introduced in his life.
