School District 308’s switch to PowerSchool continues to bring many problems to staff, students, and parents. Based on student and staff experiences, the transition has been anything but smooth. The most recent issue SD#308 has dealt with took place during the week of Oct. 30.
“PowerSchool did an update to the Google Sync. And what it did was [[create]] for some teachers a repeating of grades; some teachers [[it]] didn't impact at all, some teachers [[were]] impacted a little bit,” Deputy Superintendent Dr. Heather Kincaid said.
On Sept. 13, 2023, GameFreak will begin to release the new “Pokèmon Scarlet and Violet” downloadable content (DLC), “The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero,” on the Nintendo Switch.
This DLC comes in two phases: “The Teal Mask” releases on the thirteenth, and GameFreak has confirmed that “The Indigo Disk” will be released in the winter.
“The Teal Mask” will have players explore a new land to uncover the secrets of a folklore story passed down for generations. Players will also gain new game functions, Pokèmon evolutions, and characters to interact with.
On Dec 12, the Little White Schoolhouse Museum will be hosting the OH Panther Writers' free open mic poetry writing workshop. This event will give poets of any kind the ability to talk about poetry and workshop some of the poems they've been working on.
”We just do a workshop…leading kids through the writing process of writing a fresh piece of poetry. Then people sign up if they'd like to share something that was fresh or share something they've written before. Then we just have some time for performances”, said OH teacher and event organizer Erin Holtz.
