It’s finally that time of year: carving pumpkins and baking Halloween cookies while screaming at a scary movie. Although these traditions are classic, sometimes we want to try something new. Read below to find some different fall and Halloween traditions in the area to add to your list.
Spirits and Séances
Come to the Montgomery library to learn about Victorian spiritualism during the Civil War! The activity is on Oct. 30 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. free of charge. Engage in a discussion with Rebecca Tulloch on American Spiritualism and learn the skill of medians, see photos of ghosts taken by photographers, and even take part in a séance. Haunted Trails
The Aurora Turners Club is opening up to the public its annual Haunted Trails on Oct. 29 and 30. The tickets sell for $6 each from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Come bring your family: besides the trails, there’s a bonfire, children’s activities, and food and drinks. Abbey Farms
If you’re less of a haunted-location fan, visit Abbey farms before Oct. 31 to experience fall in a comfy ambiance. You can call (630)-966-7775 or visit the website to purchase your tickets. Abbey Farms has countless attractions, such as a corn maze, zip lines, a petting zoo, and many more. Not only does Abbey farms have different activities, but it also has many options for food and beverages. A popular item is the award-winning apple cider donut, but don’t forget about the warm apple cider or kettle corn! There’s also a cafe and concessions in the center of the farm to help support rural businesses. Come visit Abbey Farms at 2855 Hart Rd, Aurora, Ill., to end the season in the fall spirit.
