Isolation can take a toll on many aspects of life—including friendships. Oswego High School senior Katie McCumber went out of her way in May, a time of isolation, to let her friends know she was thinking of them and uplift their spirits.
John F. Kennedy once said, “when written in Chinese, the word ‘crisis’ is composed of two characters - one represents danger, and the other represents opportunity.” It has long since been debated whether or not this claim by President Kennedy is true. I personally couldn't care less. The metaphor stands.
Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker announced on April 17 that all schools in Illinois will be closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year due to the spread of COVID-19. The announcement was made during his daily coronavirus press conference.
Of the two choices presented to the board and to Superintendent Dr. John Sparlin, 42Fifty supports the remote learning for all plan as it provides the highest and most equitable level of education across the board, while keeping students and teachers safe from risk of a major COVID-19 outbreak.
2020 has been an especially unique year— to say the least. There have been challenges and triumphs, and people learned how to adapt to big changes. When Oswego High School closed its doors on March 13, 2020, it was surreal to think school would continue without the tile hallways and brick walls that students and staff saw nearly every day.
