“Lethal Company” is a co-op horror game made by Zeekerrs and was released on Oct. 23, 2023. The game grew in popularity in November and was the top seller globally on Steam.
“Lethal Company” has a vague story and very little lore. Workers are working for “The Company” and are sent to different abandoned moons to collect scrap which they then sell to a creature inside the company building. There are various monsters and enemies roaming around the facilities. The team has to meet a quota so the crew can avoid being shot into space.
“Lethal Company is the best with friends. If you play alone, you won’t have as much fun, and you will be very scared as well,” said OHS junior Lucas Snodgrass.
Pilot logs are left on the ship by a worker named Sigurd who worked there in 1968. Sigurd explains his suspicions about “The Company” and his logs are the only thing giving the game a proper story. The game will most likely be continued with a bigger story in the future according to Acer Blogs
The game is intended to be played co-op, whether it’s played with friends or a public lobby. It becomes much easier to have other people around than playing solo. Collecting scrap and killing monsters becomes less stressful.
In-game voice chat is included and the only way in which other players can be heard is if you are in proximity of each other. It’s a good change from using other softwares like Discord.
The game makes this more immersive by being able to hear other players through the walls and their voice will echo through hallways, even if a player isn’t nearby. Yelling will also increase the distance someone can be heard.
“Personally my favorite aspect of ‘Lethal’ is the proximity chat. You never know what kind of funny moments you will have over the muffled screams of your friends,” said Lucas Snodgrass.
The game is currently being supported by third-client mods that add new content made by the community. Playing the game normally is fun, but mods keep the game from getting boring.
“Lethal Company” has a lot of potential in future updates and it’ll only get much better from here.
The overall work put into this game by the developer and community is overwhelming and will have several more updates in the future. This game is a great new horror game and you are missing out if you are a fan of horror.
