Our Pokémon protagonist seems to be a little off this time around. The Pokémon game formula is a tried and true method, and exhibits few variations across generations. Since the very first release of Red and Green in 1996, the gameplay has been about the same: a protagonist at the ripe age of eleven sets off on a grand journey to defeat the gym leaders of the region and become the Pokémon champion. “I have played pretty much every Pokémon game, including spin-offs, and this game is such an amazing deviation from the usual money-hungry formula,” said OH senior Kayden Rudny.
Almost five years after Forza Horizon 5 came out, fans finally have the next game in this series. The long-awaited Horizon 6 is coming out on May 19 for everyone, and on May 15 for those with the premium addition. Also, for those who pre-order it, players will receive a 2017 Ferrari J50. Fans have been waiting what feels like ages for the game to take place in Japan, and it's finally here. There's nothing wrong with the locations of the previous games, but having the map set in Japan will be a dream come true for many car enthusiasts.
Tomorrow, the new Resident Evil Requiem will be released after being announced by Capcom July 2024. Directed by Koshi Nakanishi, who previously directed Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the game was officially unveiled at Summer Game Fest in June 2025. Resident Evil Requiem is a single-player survival horror game in which the player assumes the role of FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and DSO agent Leon S. Kennedy, with the game alternating between the two characters throughout the story. Grace's sections are more focused on survival horror with limited resources that require the player to be more cautious in encounters. Resident Evil Requiem commemorates the series' 30th anniversary. Former OH student Dylan Hospes said, “Resident Evil has come a long way since the days of 10 controls. The evolution of technology has made the game seem more realistic and scary. The series became more action-focused, then returned to its horror roots.”
On Nov. 14, 2025, Activision released its seventh title in the Black Ops series, Black Ops 7 (BO7). This was with partners like Treyarch, Raven Software, Infinity Ward, and Sledgehammer Games. Interestingly, there is a gap, anywhere from two to four years, when the Blacks Ops games were released between 2010 to 2024. And players of the game took notice. OH senior Malachi Curtis said, “To make BO7 better, they should’ve developed it more and just not released it as soon as they did.” Taking time to make something will pretty much make it better every time.
The long-awaited third installment of the Little Nightmares series has finally been released, and with it came one of the greatest letdowns Supermassive Games has delivered. From lacking game mechanics to an underwhelming story, fans feel that the game was a major step down from the extensive success of the second game, and a betrayal of the expectations set by the first. Long-time fans of the series and newcomers alike agree that Little Nightmares 3 simply did not deliver much satisfaction.  One of the most common complaints is the lack of interesting mechanics. In the previous games, puzzles and elaborate problem-solving were a necessity to completing the first two games, with unique solutions to each problem that teach the player to interact with the world around them to find the answers they need.
