Books don't always make the best translation from print to screen, but “Tony,” directed by Matt Johnson and based on Anthony Bourdain’s memoir “Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly,” is *chef's kiss.*
The biopic follows 19-year-old Anthony Bourdain, Tony (played by Dominic Sessa), in the mid-1970’s as he gets his start in the food industry. Bourdain, who became well known for his skills as a chef and then as a travel show host, died in 2018.
He longs to be a writer, but when his fellowship doesn’t work out, he ends up working as a chef in The Flagship, a seaside restaurant in Provincetown, MA.
“I love Anthony Bourdain and the director Matt Johnson. I’m a huge fan of the stuff he’s been releasing recently,” OH senior Ben Altschul said. “Once I saw the cast, I kind of had a feeling I was going to like it a lot.”
OH staff and students alike are ready for the continuation of the 2026 movie run as the weather turns cooler.
Varying from Resident Evil to Avengers: Doomsday, the remainder of 2026 has many eagerly-anticipated movies coming out.
Over the summer, we got some great movies of all kinds, but I and my OH friends are excited to see what's in store for the winter and fall. OH English 4 Critical Interpretations of Literature Forms & Composition teacher Amy Severinski said, “I’m really excited about the Tom Cruise movie... Digger," which opens on Oct. 2 and has been nominated as the Most Anticipated Film at the Astra Midseason Movie Awards.
“I hope there’s also some strong stuff later on this year,” Severinski added when asked if she thinks this second wave of movies will be better than the first.
As summer comes to a close, students at OH have had plenty of new movie and music to keep them entertained. From blockbusters sequels and psychological thrillers to highly anticipated albums, the summer of '26 has offered a wide range of entertainment.
On June 12, 2002, at 807 Oregon Street, an anonymous 4Chan user took a photo in the back room of a HobbyTown retail store in Oshkosh, WI. At the time, it seemed just to be a progress photo with no real substance.
What the photographer could not have known is that this picture would cause a chain reaction, with a film produced by A24 set to be released May 24, 2026 - and a few OH students are here for it.
“I was one of the people who were very interested in the concept of liminal spaces when the original post became more mainstream," said senior Ava DeSanto.
Over the span of April 11-12, an individual located in Singapore leaked the highly anticipated film Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender on many platforms for open viewing.
We and many other OH students saw this mass spread of the movie, and appropriately reacted. Those reactions ranged from Paramount Studios deserving it to the leaker needing to be punished.
“From what I heard about the retaliation, it was deserved,” said OH senior and award-winning art student Lynn Ramirez. “The theater release should never have been changed without telling the staff.”
