Almost five years after Forza Horizon 5 came out, fans finally have the next game in this series.

The long-awaited Horizon 6 is coming out on May 19 for everyone, and on May 15 for those with the premium addition. Also, for those who pre-order it, players will receive a 2017 Ferrari J50.

Fans have been waiting what feels like ages for the game to take place in Japan, and it’s finally here. There’s nothing wrong with the locations of the previous games, but having the map set in Japan will be a dream come true for many car enthusiasts.

Although Japan was an amazing map choice, there are still many more options that could’ve really changed the game.

“I mean, to be honest, Japan wasn’t my first choice for where I wanted it to be. I wanted it to be somewhere in Europe, like Germany or something. Just for like the track-wise stuff, because Motorsport just sucks, “ said OH senior Malachi Curtis.

Even though the map choice is awesome, there are some possibilities for improvement. After both Horizon 4 came out, we had our first big look at the growth of off-road vehicles available to players. With the introduction of off-road tires, this change was nice because adding things like true off-road vehicles changed the game and expanded its player type.

“Hopefully, they add more trucks because there weren’t a lot of trucks to begin with, instead of just the Raptors,” said OH junior Logan Valencia. “I know it’s a car game, it’s about racing and stuff, but you know, it’d probably be better if they added like, oh, another truck.”

The Horizon series has been around for nearly 14 years, and there have been so many changes since its release. The Forza Horizon series came out to prompt open world racing rather than track-focused racing. This allows players to drive around the map and enjoy the scenery.

There is also a wide variety of races, from the standard day races to street racing, rally racing, and even off-road racing. This gives players a wide variety of options on how to play the game to their liking. Even the customization has come a long way. There are now many ways to make your car your own.

Although there could be more customization, the hope is to see it in Horizon 6. “I want full customization. I want to create my own unique parts, splitters, and mods, which would be great for a 3D design editor. It would take a lot, but I feel like it’d be worth it,” said Curtis.

Even though there is always room for improvement, the excitement never stops.

When asked about how excited he is, OH senior Alex Gatenby said, “Definitely, [be]cause they’re changing a bunch of stuff and I’m just excited to see what it is where they go.”

This change should give players a newer and better experience that makes them want to play more. Having constant changes to a game series means that players get a change of scenery and makes new games more fun and less boring.

Hopefully, come May, we will have an amazing brand new title in the Forza Horizon series.
