Everyone’s taste in music varies from person to person—some people like rap music, some like alternative, some like country, and that’s fine. People are entitled to their own opinions. However, people that don’t like country tend to think that all the songs sound the same and have the same message. That, my friend, is where you’re wrong. I’m here to tell all you haters that despite what you think, country music is better than it seems. Whatever mood you’re in, sounds from way down south will provide you with the perfect fix. Maybe you were just dumped, and need something to help you get through it. No matter the situation, country music is there with the perfect song to support you in getting over that certain someone. There are also songs that help you move on and think “I never needed them in my life anyway, so onto someone new to make me happy.”

For example, there’s a song by Cole Swindell called “You Should Be Here,” which is dedicated to his father who passed away from cancer. That song touched a lot of people who have lost friends or family members to the disease, and helped them through a tough time. My own grandfather had cancer, and when he passed away, I would listen to this song to remind myself that I wasn’t the only person in the world who has lost someone they love. People who have family members with cancer could potentially have a rough time dealing with chemotherapy treatments, and country music can be there to help them cope. This song definitely brings individuals who are going through similar situations together as one.

Not to mention, country concerts are extremely fun because country singers have the best performances. Country artists not only perform for the fans, but they interact with their fans too by dancing with them or simply just singing back and forth. The country concerts that I have been to have been some of the best concerts I have ever experienced in my life. Both the Dierks Bentley and Garth Brooks concerts were amazing—nothing like I have ever experienced before. Those two performers specifically went into the pits where all the fans are to make sure everyone was having a good time, while still maintaining an upbeat energy. It’s almost as if they were attending a concert too, which is always something that’s cool to see. There’s nothing like going to a concert and seeing the performer having as much fun as I am while we’re singing and dancing.

If you think about it, all music has the same rhythm. The only difference is how it sounds and who’s singing it. You could have a slow rap song that sounds country, or vice versa, and barely even notice the difference. I have listened to some country rap like Jawga Boyz and Upchurch, and honestly, combining country and rap is not the worst thing imaginable. Country music is definitely just as good, if not better, than today’s mainstream rap.

Rap, electronic dance music and alternative music are all admittedly enjoyable, but if I had to choose one over all of them, it would be country music. To me, it’s more than just music—it’s a way of life. So check out country artists like Cole Swindell, Dierks Bentley, Tim McGraw and Garth Brooks, I promise you won’t regret it. Who knows, maybe you’ll find some good new music to listen to and end up thanking me for it! Regardless of your situation, country music will always be there to save the day.
