Plenty of movie studios and companies are having a surplus of movies releasing this spring and summer. Some most recent releases at Kendall 11 in Oswego IL include: “Kung Fu Panda 4,” “Dune: Part 2,” “Imaginary,” and “Bob Marley: One Love.” Many people in the Oswego community, including students of OHS, are very excited about these new releases coming to Kendall 11.
Most opinions on Movie releases are positive; however, there are a few upcoming movies that have people a bit worried for the future of their fun evenings. The vast majority has already loved the past release schedule, and yet there are some movies like “Kung Fu Panda 4,” reviewed by 42Fifty.
“To be honest, the movie wasn’t all that good. It felt like they were just making it for the money,” said OH senior Aaron Emerson. “It has some effort put into it but definitely not as much as the original trilogy.”
There are still high hopes for movies like “Dune: Part 2,” “Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire,” and “Kingdom of The Planet of the Apes.” These are highly anticipated movies that many people were dying to be able to see especially Godzilla x Kong due to the beloved Godzilla Vs Kong
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire in particular has a kaiju level of hype around it being the sequel to Godzilla vs Kong 2021. Many fans of the Godzilla franchise are eager to go see this movie. The original films like “Godzilla” (2014) and “Godzilla vs Kong” (2019) are still loved to this day and will most likely always have their fans. And moviegoers are feeling positive about this highly anticipated movie.
“I loved the last one and I cannot wait to see what they’re doing with this new one and how great they’ll definitely make it,” said local Oswego resident Kenneth Baker.
Dune: Part 2 has also had a tone of positive reviews, having a 92% rating on rotten tomatoes and an 8.9/10 on IMDB. This movie was able to welcome not only old fans but new ones as well.
The enthralling action and deep tone were perfect for everyone to enjoy.
“Dune Part 2 is creative, beautiful, tragic, and mesmerizing,” said IMDB user her5066. “Never once did I get bored or anticipate what was going to happen next.”
This movie seems to have almost no major issues deterring people from watching and even rewatching it. This is a great movie to recommend to any fans of the books, original movies, or new fans of the franchise.
Overall a majority of recent movie releases have gotten positive feedback. However, there are a few bad apples that viewers hope don’t ruin the bunch. Although a few releases that are further into the summer may help with these worries, such as “Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes,” and “Deadpool and Wolverine.” Both are sequels to already amazing franchises and should be a great watch for moviegoers to enjoy.
