Hi! My name is German Perez and I´m a junior at Oswego high school. This is my first year in 42Fifty and im proud to serve as a staff reporter. You can contact me by emailing 42Fifty@sd308.org and putting my name in the subject line. We welcome our comments on our articles and feedback on our publication.
Fantasy football is a popular trend for OH students as the NFL season begins, and OH students come together as a community to participate in this activity.  The digital era of the game started in the 1990’s, and now has over 60 million people playing yearly.  It's a game where students draft NFL players as a group and throughout the season, students receive points on how the player performed in their NFL game.
Turns out a little, light public shaming can go a long way. An anonymous Instagram account in Oswego posts about student’s bad parking and may have slightly improved students parking after only a couple weeks.  The Instagram account owner (who wished to remain anonymous) said in an Insta chat interview, “I think the account might have changed a few peoples parking, as I've seen fewer people with a wheel in the grass or crooked.” The account has become a popular topic among students, because it combines humor with a common issue in the school parking lot: truly bad parking. “I think it’s funny as long as no one is being mean about it,” said OH junior Djevdet Vejseli said.
Upon learning that celebrity singer/songwriter and humanitarian Dolly Parton had passed away, OH junior Ayaan Khan was one of the people who felt affected. “I was really sad to hear about her passing because she was a really important person in music and entertainment," Khan said. "[[She]] also had a lot of impact on people around the world.” Though Khan, like most people, never met Parton, she held a deep legacy through her stories of growing through hardship and finding kindness and beauty in the world.  “I was upset to hear about Parton's passing. She was an important person to everyone and changed a lot of people's lives,”  OH junior Emma Villanueva said. Khan and Villanueva are not alone in their feelings toward Parton. Today, Sept. 25, is being touted as "Dolly Parton Day," in honor of her popular song and the film in which she started, "9-to-5", which will return to theaters this October in honor of her legacy.
