Upon learning that celebrity singer/songwriter and humanitarian Dolly Parton had passed away, OH junior Ayaan Khan was one of the people who felt affected.
“I was really sad to hear about her passing because she was a really important person in music and entertainment," Khan said. "[[She]] also had a lot of impact on people around the world.”
Though Khan, like most people, never met Parton, she held a deep legacy through her stories of growing through hardship and finding kindness and beauty in the world.
“I was upset to hear about Parton's passing. She was an important person to everyone and changed a lot of people's lives,” OH junior Emma Villanueva said.
Khan and Villanueva are not alone in their feelings toward Parton. Today, Sept. 25, is being touted as "Dolly Parton Day," in honor of her popular song and the film in which she started, "9-to-5", which will return to theaters this October in honor of her legacy.
