The 2024 anime line-up holds much hope, and the highly anticipated “Solo Leveling” is expected to be the runner-up to 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards.

Senior Elijah Duran said, ”It was good to hear that it was getting an anime adaptation, when the episode released I rushed to watch it. It was very well animated and looks exactly like in the webtoon. I loved when they animated ‘the smile’ in the second episode, it gave me chills.”

The sales of both the “Solo Leveling” Webtoon and web novel exceed 30 billion won (22.4million USD) on Kakao Page and a total of 430 million views domestically and internationally, so it’s no surprise the anime is highly warranted.

Earlier in 2022 at the Anime Expo Crunchyroll shared a message by author Chugong: “About six years ago when I was writing the very beginning of ‘Solo Leveling’, if someone had said to me, ‘The novel you wrote will become a comic,’ I bet I’d have told them to stop pulling my leg. But now I’m told that it’ll be animated?!”

The story is centered around Sung Jin Woo, the protagonist, in a world where portals with dungeons inside of them are opening up around the globe, which must be cleared by defeating the monsters within it.

At the same time, humans started gaining supernatural abilities that were used to fight against the monsters. The supernatural humans are also known as hunters.

The pacing compared to other webtoon adaptations is, thus far, one of the best compared to other Webtoon anime adaptations.

Crunchyroll aired the first episode of “Solo Leveling” on Jan. 6, 2024. It is expected that season 1 will have a total of 12 episodes.

With that in mind, the first episode of “Solo Leveling” was unparalleled. The beginning of the episode began with a time skip of three years into the future, which then cut right back to the present, leaving its viewers at the edge of their seats.

A-1 Pictures does a great job adapting to the light novel and simultaneously sticking to the manhwa art style.

The anime is expected to have better world-building and character development than the manhwa since it’s adapting its content heavily from the light novel.

Over its premiere weekend, the series received over 50,000 ratings, averaging 4.9 out of 5 stars. That exceeds the last record holder, “Chainsaw Man.”

The anime is expected to introduce the audience to the captivating universes of manhwa, Webtoons, and novels. It has not only met but exceeded expectations, and its qualities have paved the path to making it the most prominent anime of 2024.
