Natalie Raabe - Managing Editor
My name is Natalie Raabe and I am a senior at Oswego High School. This is my second year as a member of the 42fifty team and I serve as a Managing Editor and the Features Section Leader. Additionally, I am a member of the BIONIC board, NHS, Best Buddies, SNHS, NEHS, Rho Kappa, and Mu Alpha Theta.
After a few weeks of preparation, members of the Boulder Hill Elementary School Diversity Club presented in front of the board of the Oswego Public Library District (OPLD) on Jan. 24. Passionate about the controversial topic of book banning in schools, they advocated to protect the beloved books in their school community.
“[[The kids]] each ended up choosing a book that they've either read about or were interested in and did their focus on that specific book. They talked about why they love the book, what they liked about it, and created like a little slideshow,” said Elizabeth Medina, a fourth-grade teacher at Boulder Hill Elementary and one of the two teachers who run the Diversity Club.
We all know the renowned annual award ceremony that is the Golden Globes. It brings iconic fashion, suspenseful announcements, and meaningless yet viral drama. Not only did the 2023 Golden Globes have drama, but it also had questionable award winners and the worst “comedic” speeches.
On Jan. 28, the Reflector staff hosted their annual Club Photo Day in the OH auditorium. Assigning a specific time slot to each club, the staff worked all day to organize, arrange, and photograph students from over sixty clubs at OH.
According to an email sent by OE Principal Laura Bankowski on Tuesday, Dec. 12, a student from Oswego East High School brought a bag into the building that contained a loaded gun, among other prohibited items.
There is no better way to spend the holiday season than baking and allowing the aroma of cinnamon and vanilla to fill your household. Putting on your favorite Christmas movie or listening to your favorite Christmas songs while mixing things up in the kitchen is the perfect way to spread some Christmas cheer!
