I sat in my room teary-eyed, watching the movie that would alter my perspective for the rest of my high school career: “Perks of Being a Wallflower.” As I stared at my computer screen, I heard Paul Rudd’s character, Mr. Anderson, say what would become my favorite quote. “We accept the love we think we deserve.”
2023-2024 Prom Court announced
At the beginning of second period on April 22, the names of the 10 nominees for the 2023-24 Prom Court were announced over the intercom. The five male and five female students gathered in the main office to receive their sashes and take a photo together. The nominations for Prom King were Declan Auton, Griffin Fowler, Valentino Thompson, Nathan Ortinau, and Nolan Petry. The nominations for Prom Queen were Miranda Cook, Ava Taviani, Madelyn Zuerner, Marissa Moffett, and Ava Smith.
[[SATIRE]] Seniors hold competition to solve chronic absenteeism
Upon their return from spring break, the senior class will be hosting a competition to find the most chronically absent student. A record total of 589 OH seniors plan to participate in the competition, which will last from April 2 to May 17. “This is their best idea yet,” explained SD308 superintendent Dr. Calamari. “I am so happy that they are taking the initiative to get out there and solve our attendance problem.”
Energy is everything: OH jazz ensemble’s spring performance
On March 12, the OH Jazz Ensemble hosted their spring jazz night, the final performance of the 2023-24 school year. “We have another jazz concert in November, but this one sort of takes all of the songs we’ve been working on throughout the year, and we get to share them with everyone,” said OH senior Lilliah Engel, a piano player in Jazz 1.
