OH honor society inductions: Tradition, process and meaning

As the end of the school year approaches for OH, honor society inductions are taking place in honor of academic excellence. With inductions taking the center stage these last couple of weeks, students are being recognized for their achievements while celebrating and welcoming new students into many different honor societies. “It is the formal event that officially makes a student part of the NHS. It’s also a way that parents and families can celebrate the accomplishments of these students,” said National Honor Society sponsor Amy Dillon.

Regional victory: Gear it Forward robotics team scores at Rocket City Regionals

The OH robotics team Gear it Forward traveled to Huntsville, AL, to compete in the Rocket City Regional Competition from Mar 12 to Mar 15, with 44 competing teams, earning multiple awards. The team won an Autonomous Award and a Championship Qualifying award, earning the title of Regional Winners at this event. They went 11-0 in qualification matches.

OH’s Student Council is hosting the annual Talent Show tonight at 6 p.m. in the Barnes Performing Arts Center. This event highlights an opportunity for students to take center stage and show off their talents in a fun and unique way. “I think it's one of the most fun events that makes you think about high school,” said Student Council sponsor Jacob Cafaro. “You can go upstage and show your talents. People are cheering, and it's just overall a really positive and healthy community event.”

As graduation and college application deadlines quickly approach, OH students are looking for a better understanding of Naviance, a program that partners with many high schools to help students prepare for college. “As seniors, students use Naviance to send their college applications, transcripts, and letters of recommendation. The more familiar with it students are, the more they will be able to find all of its uses,” said Director of Student Services Patti Marcinko. A great way to get the most out of Naviance is to explore its features and get to know it better so that you are ready when it comes to using Naviance to apply for college. For help with Naviance, the OH College and Career Center or Student Services can be of assistance.
