The weather is cooling and holidays are just around the corner, which means the Village of Oswego is holding the Christmas Walk tonight, an annual tradition within our community.
“It’s good for the community to help out and come together… even the little things help out a bunch,” said Julie Hoffman, an events manager of the Oswego Village.
This spectacular event is tonight, Fri., Dec. 6, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. in downtown Oswego. This year’s Christmas Walk will be featuring just about everything magical, like a free photo with Santa, an emergency vehicle parade, an inflatable snow hill, a jumbo snow globe, and so many more activities for everyone of all ages to enjoy.
“Last time I went, I enjoyed looking at the street lights and spending time with my friends at the park. The hot cocoa being sold was really good as well,” said OH senior Katherine Casurella.
An event without food could be considered boring, so of course, food will be available for guests. Restaurants in Downtown Oswego will be open for the duration of the annual Christmas Walk. Even if they are not participants, there will still be interactive things for guests to enjoy at these restaurants.
Oswego is bringing restaurants like Chick-fil-A, Auntie Anne’s, Red Robin, Cake Charming LLC, Freddie’s Off the Chain, and many other amazing food vendors.
“They sell just about everything you can imagine, from burgers to hot dogs, loaded fries, chicken everything really,” said Hoffman.
Some streets will be closed for driving; this primarily includes parts of Main St, as well as Van Buren, Jefferson, and Jackson Streets.
There will be many vendors on Main St, and the community Christmas tree will be on Jackson St. Live Reindeer will be held at the corner of Jackson St and Main St, an inflatable sled hill on Van Buren, and an ice sculpture in Washington St.
This event wouldn’t have been brought together without the help of sponsorships and non-profit organizations. The Oswego Village reached its goal of $30,000 with the help of sponsors and the community coming together to help out, which is exactly what the holidays are for.
The community Christmas tree on Jackson St., the live reindeer at the corner of Jackson St. and Main St, an inflatable sled hill on Van Buren, and an ice sculpture in Washington St. are sights to enjoy this evening in Oswego.
