A new school year has welcomed two new deans at OH: Ryan Kabara and Mark Prosise. After only a few short weeks, the two new deans have been welcomed into the community and are adjusting well.
“Oswego High School is a great school and district to work in,” said new Dean Ryan Kabara. “The athletics are good, and the academics. Everything is good; it’s a great school and community to be a part of.””
Kabara grew up in Oswego and graduated from OH in 2007. He wanted the opportunity to come back to the school and wanted to be a part of the community again.
“The staff is great; the students are great. It is welcoming,” Kabara said. “It’s a warm environment for everyone.”
“It’s a different day every day, in the dean’s office,” Kabara said. “Some days are hectic, there’s no time to eat even. But every day is different; there’s no ordinary day in the dean’s office.”
“Building trust and making sure students know I have their interest and I’m always available to support students and staff with hallway issues or classroom problems and making sure it’s a great place to be for everyone,” he added.
In high school, Kabara did activities like being on the golf team and the volleyball team and was also a member of the Orange Crew.
“Right now my relationship with the student body is building those connections and getting to know students more throughout the school year,” Kabara said.

Another new OH Dean joining the team is Mark Prosise. Although Prosise did not graduate from OH, he is also excited to be part of the community in this new role.
“Oswego High School is a great school, they treat everyone here like family,” Prosise said. “Athletics are great, [and the place] is just known for being a great school and a community.”
In his new role as a dean, Prosise’s focus is on safety and relationship-building. “I plan on making Oswego a safe place by creating a relationship with staff and students. [I will be] helping enforce school policies and school rules, ensuring everyone gets to class on time. if a kid is having problems in class or the hallways, I will address it,” Prosise said.
Prosise added that he also helps the Deans Assistants with the hallways and issues during the passing periods. “I am still getting closer and making relationships with students, and since I’m a new face to the Oswego community, it is getting stronger. The more students see me, I feel like students will think I am a pretty cool person,” Prosise added.
