My name is Miranda Cook, and this is my second year being a part of 42Fifty! I am a senior at OHS, and I am on the varsity cheer team. I enjoy taking photos and hanging out with my friends in my free time, and I cannot wait to continue my career in journalism!

Max Niesman: The finale

Varsity basketball player Max Niesman, has been a positive asset to the Oswego Basketball program all four years of his high school career. Being on varsity as a sophomore, he grew with the program both in his skills and in his character. Niesman takes on many leadership roles within the team, and  it helps to keep everyone in check.

A look into the OH Varsity Girls Basketball team’s 2022 season

Oswego Varsity Girls Basketball has had a challenging season so far, currently standing at 4-16. This year, the varsity team works through their obstacles with a new head coach, David Lay. Coming from a smaller school, Plano High School, he was excited to work with a larger team and a variety of talent. 

OH cross country teams conquer state meet, wrap up ’22 season

Oswego High School’s cross country season came to an end during the final races at Detweiller Park in Peoria. Both OHS varsity cross country teams qualified for state this 2022 season. Competing in a mud bath, the boys team pulled out from being underdogs and earned a No.25 state ranking; the girls team finished at No. 21. In the previous 2022 season, the girls team did not qualify for state because of the sectional they were placed in. However, the boys team was previously ranked fifth in state from last season. 

Oswego Varsity Boys Soccer: A season to remember

The Oswego Varsity boys soccer team is at it again and has accomplished and overcome a lot in its 2022 season. This year, the team faced multiple complications that it was forced to adapt to. 

OH hosts Mr. Oswego competition in spirit of homecoming week

This competition is an annual tradition at Oswego High School amongst their senior male students. The competition occurs every year during homecoming week, and the winner is crowned as Mr. Oswego. It’s a place for students to go and watch their classmates, and have a good laugh. This year, there were seven contestants who put on entertaining acts to take part in this event on Oct. 3, and Stephen Carico was awarded the crown.
