This competition is an annual tradition at Oswego High School amongst their senior male students. The competition occurs every year during homecoming week, and the winner is crowned as Mr. Oswego. It’s a place for students to go and watch their classmates, and have a good laugh. This year, there were seven contestants who put on entertaining acts to take part in this event on Oct. 3, and Stephen Carico was awarded the crown.
The first person to perform was Joshua Tiffany. He sang “Let It Go” from the movie “Frozen,” but added his own spin to it. As we can see from his silly hat, he sang the entire song in the voice of Goofy, the Disney character.

Second up was Stephen Carico, this year’s winner. He dressed up as Elvis Presley, and he brought the entire character with him. Singing Elvis’s songs, he put on an act with a lot of laughs.

Nicholas Pillsbury was up next, and he sang, “Wave” by Frank Sinatra, that created a heartfelt performance. He presented himself well with a professional outfit, and colorful tie. Nicholas left the crowd stunned as he walked off stage.

Trevor La Bash lip-synced the song “Billie Jean ” by Michael Jackson, while also portraying his dance moves. He really struck the crowd when he pulled out his flawless moonwalk.

Lucian Sutor showed quite a comedic routine to make the crowd laugh. His routine was full of dance moves with a Christmas song from the movie, “Alivn and the Chipmunks.”

Another singing performance was put on by Issac Cejas, and he left the crowd in awe with his skills. He dedicated the performance to his mother, and gifted her colorful flowers during the performance to show appreciation for her.

Last but not least, Logan Woods. The students found the performance entertaining, especially as he called up his friends to perform with him. From a dance routine, to singing, to even a homecoming proposal, he really amused the crowd.

The crowd was very interested and entertained with each performance during the competition. With Stephan Carico crowned as Mr. Oswego, he then performed in front of the whole student body with the same act he did for the competition on Oct. 7 at the school assembly. We are looking forward to keeping this tradition up over the years while seeing who will be the next Mr. Oswego .
