On Feb. 29th, the OH boys track team set new records during their track meet at Lewis University. Along with beating the records, they have achieved success in all of their events.
Record holders this year include: Owen Fitzgerald, Michael Kelly, Dontrell Young, Matthew Whitfield, Dylan Johson, Jack Wandolowski, Jayden Patterson, Omar Perez, and Jeremiah Cain.
“[The season] has been pretty good, I got a new PR in the 60m,” said senior Owen Fitzgerald.
The team puts in a lot of work at each practice, which reflects each week during their meets. “Every day after school we have practice, but depending on the day, we do something different,” said junior Jeremiah Cain.

There are many new records set by the boys track athletes. The infographic shown here shares the multiple new records held by current students. Achieving this success takes dedication during the strength and conditioning process, according to Fitzgerald.
“Monday we will do a 40-yard or a 10-meter fly to build speed, then we lift Tuesday and Thursday. We will do X factor to help with form and get explosive,” said Fitzgerald.
“Wednesday we will do a lactic workout, so we run as fast and as far as we can to build up the lactic acid in our muscles, and by doing that, we could run faster and harder during our meets. Friday is another lactic workout,” Fitzgerald added.
Practicing multiple times a day can get very tiring, but with the help of the family and friends of the boys, it is much more helpful for them to do better.
“Things that motivate me to get better are breaking more records and a place at State as a freshman,” said freshman Dontrell Young.
