If you think football season is just about the scores, you haven't had looked at the student section lately.
Tonight, look for the Pink Out at Joliet West and be prepared to see the loud, stylish, and exciting Driven by tradition and led by Orange Crew, themes like “Neon” and “Frat” have turned ordinary Friday nights into highly anticipated events.
“I really love going to the football games, especially going [[into]] my senior year,” OH senior Mak Hill said.
Each year, OH students anticipate the themes to be announced. Some notable themes this year include “Frat,” “Blue Out,” and “Neon.”
The best way to encapsulate summer energy is through music.This summer countless music events occurred, including festivals like Lollapalooza and Summer Smash, as well as concerts like J.Cole, Bruno Mars, and Megan Moroney.
“[[At Summer Smash]] you see a lot of artists, you see a lot of different types of music, you can discover new kinds of music,” OH senior Victoriana Arriaga said.
Summer Smash is perfect if you enjoy rap, are looking to make memories, and discover a new favorite song. It is a three-day long event and takes place in Bridgeview, just outside of Chicago. The festival features over 50 to 75 artists across multiple stages, ranging from major, well known headliners to underground rap artists.
Another festival is Lollapalooza.
On Sat. May 16, OH celebrated the graduating class of 2026. Along with an announced 700 graduates, thousands of friends, family, and staff watched in support aa the 139th OH graduating class walked across the stage and began a new chapter of life.
That chapter, according to OH SchoolLinks data, will take the Class of '26 to a wide range of places in the United States, but as Graduation Keynote Speaker and OH '26 graduate Hailey Nass said, "Time is pushing us into something new. The clock isn't going to stop ticking, so don't wait for that perfect time: take the risk."
That "something new" for a majority of graduates, 62.44%, means seeking a 4-year degree from a college or university. However, 84.71% plan to continue their education in some way with post-high school education, according to self-reported data as collected by SchoolLinks, the SD#308 student information platform used by Student Services to help students with college and career planning.
Students are preparing to shine at the Crystal Gala this year at prom on Friday, May 8. Many things go on behind the scenes in preparation for prom. Read on for the ins and outs on how students assemble their final looks.
OH junior Ashley Dauderman said, “I bought my dress and shoes. I think I'm gonna do my hair myself and my nails myself to cut down on the prices because stuff is very expensive.”
It is advised by many that dresses be purchased months in advance. To ensure security in the outfit and provide time for necessary alterations.
For the past four years, the boys tennis team has won the conference. The varsity boys tennis team has started preparing for another great season.
Coach Zachary Horn said, “We have a pretty good run going on, we have won conference the last four years, and everyone works hard, and everyone gets along pretty well. It’s a good group of guys. So working together is a common goal.”
The team as a whole works well together. Being friends on and off the court.
“Our team works incredibly well. Everybody's good friends, everybody's nice and supportive, and able to inspire each other,” said the previous year’s singles three player OH junior Jake Doornbos.
