If your watchlist wasn’t full already, it’s about to be.

This past week, several new and captivating trailers have been released. Whether it’s sci-fi spectacles, superhero blockbusters, or Disney live actions, audiences enjoy indulging in previews for upcoming movies.

More recently, trailers have caught fans’ attention through popular preview releases such as those for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Dune: Part Three, and Moana live action.

“I like all the trailers because the visuals look good and the stories all look meaningful,” OH sophomore Ruby Wickman said.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day

The official trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day was released on March 18. It features Peter Parker, played by Tom Holland, dealing with the aftermath of everyone forgetting him in the previous film of the series, Spider-Man: No Way Home.

According to an article from Gizmodo, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day has set another new record with its trailer, racking up one billion views in just four days.”

The trailer reveals Spider-Man facing threats like the Scorpion and the Punisher while combating the loneliness and isolation in his personal life.

“The Punisher was in it, and I’m excited for that. I’m pretty sure Daredevil’s gonna be back, too. There’s also a lot of comic book references throughout the trailer,” Wickman said.

The film is set to release on July 31 and is sure to be a turning point for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“I think it’s gonna be really good. I think it’s gonna be… a comeback for Marvel,” Wickman said.

Dune: Part Three

The Dune: Part Three trailer was released on March 17, offering a look at the final installment of the Dune trilogy. The film features a time jump to 17 years after the previous film, Dune: Part Two.

“I’m just excited for the trilogy to end in a good way so … I can finally read the books afterward. I feel like there’s gonna be lots of action,” Wickman said.

The trailer features a beautifully cinematic interpretation of Emperor Paul Atreides, played by Timothée Chalamet, grappling with the catastrophic consequences of his holy war.

After watching the first two Dune films, audiences didn’t think it could get any better, but after the release of the third adaptation’s trailer, it appears that Dune has outdone itself once again.

An article from Gizmodo said, “Well, now the first trailer for Dune: Part Three is here, and it seems that maybe, just maybe, director Denis Villeneuve has done it again.”

Dune: Part Three is set to be released on December 18, and through its action and cinematography, it is expected to be an epic conclusion to the saga.

“I feel like it could be the movie of the year. I feel like it’s gonna be a strong contender for that,” Wickman said.

Moana, live action

The official live-action Moana trailer was released on March 23, and revealed an adaptation featuring Catherine Lagaʻaia as Moana and Dwayne Johnson returning as Maui.

According to an article from Gizmodo, “This latest trailer suggests it’s basically a shot-for-shot remake of the original film.”

The teaser highlights scenes such as the ocean choosing Moana, Moana’s journey to find Maui, and a portion of the “You’re Welcome” song from the original movie.

“She’s one of my favorite Disney princesses, so I feel there’s a chance for it to be good, but I don’t really have high hopes,” Wickman said.

The live-action Moana is set to be released on July 10, 2026, and audiences question if the film will be a hit or ruin the original animation’s legacy.

“I feel like Disney ruins all the movies with live action, so it’s not gonna be good,” Wickman said.

Making Hollywood history

Based on the trailers released this past week, 2026 seems to be shaping up as a monumental year for cinema.

“This year will be so good for movies in general,” Wickman said.
