Following the first performance on Fri., Sept. 5, OH’s color guard walked off the field with pride and optimism for the next season of performances.
From newcomers to senior performers, the team reported feeling good about their outstanding performance at the football game and many more performances to come. They’re more confident than ever, in both themselves and their teammates.
OH senior Color Guard weapon line member Jae Kimbrough said, “I think what we do well is counting [on] and relying on each other.”
The first performance, despite the nerves of a new season, has left the performers feeling good. Some performers were a little nervous about outside factors and technical issues, but it turned out to be nothing they couldn’t persevere against.
The weather was not entirely in agreement with their plans, and even wind can create problems that interfere with the carefully crafted performances. Thankfully, it seemed the weather calmed down at the perfect time to perform.
Similarly, team members reported that audio issues arose. The piano, a vital part of performance, ran out of battery just before the show. But, thankfully, it was nothing the persistent OH Color Guard couldn’t overcome.
As the first show of the season, they knew it was reasonable to assume not everything would go perfectly as planned.
OH senior Color Guard member Roisin Hanna said, “It was our first show, so it’s all things that can be worked on.”
With a new season comes old faces and new ones, and even with the anxiety of having not performed yet, both the old and new are feeling good, and even better about the future.
These performances require talent and practice, and that is exactly what each of these members brought to their performances to entertain audiences. The OH Color Guard’s in good spirits after a solid first performance, and will continue to impress viewers as they prepare for upcoming performances.
New member to the OH Color Guard freshman Faith Reynoso, said, “I’m better than I was before, that’s a start.”
