In anticipation of Christmas, many people overlook Thanksgiving, a holiday that’s known to bring family and friends together. To celebrate, there are many different family traditions and activities OH staff and students love to participate in.

“Thanksgiving is a holiday my wife truly loves. We both come from families that celebrated the day by gathering with loved ones and offering a warm meal to those in need,” said OH Culinary teacher Paul Grazzini.

Many traditions people have are to save a spot for a person in need or have a game night with their family. People do many things to connect with their loved ones such as their cultural traditions as well.

“My family and I always eat dinner together and watch football together,” said junior Madison Peters.

The majority of people like cooking, talking with family, playing games, and of course. eating. In a survey of OH students, most of the respondents, 26.5%, liked talking with family the best.

Thanksgiving has many things associated with it, such as parades and football games, and many of these things will bring families closer together.

“I have a deeper appreciation for the time, effort, and resources that went into providing us with such a special meal. Today, my wife and I carry on those same traditions, working as a team to give thanks to the people who matter most in our lives,” said Grazzini.

Many people visit their families too since their parents, aunts, or grandparents like to cook and host. Many people enjoy cooking for their families regardless of how much work they must do.

“We make and eat lots of amazing food! We always go to my mom’s house because she loves to host, she is an excellent cook/baker, and we all bring a dish to pass,” said Dan Okoren, the OH Career and Technical Education Division Chair.

We all see that many people do many different things like cooking, eating, watching football, or playing games. Most importantly, all these activities bring families closer and remind them to be thankful for each other.
