With the 2023 game season coming to an end and the 2024 one just beginning, many people are excited to see what the year will bring to the world of gaming. Below are some of the most popular and anticipated games that have been released or are coming out later this year.
Palworld (available on most platforms)
“Palworld” has taken the gaming community by surprise. This game made by Japanese developer Pocket Pair has quickly risen to the top of the steam charts, overtaking “CS:2”.
One of the reasons the game has become so popular is that many people are enjoying the concept of it being a mix between “Pokemon” and “ARK”, as well as the unique mechanics to be able to create a base and have your Pals work on it. Many are also criticizing the game for being too similar to Nintendo’s Pokemon as well as some controversy saying that the developers have been using AI to generate designs.
Many are also saying that this is what “Pokemon” should be and that Nintendo should take notes. Overall, I think that if you enjoy survival games and “Pokemon” you should check it out.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (January 30)
Developer Rocksteady Studios, the developer that made the popular “Batman: Arkham” games, comes back with a new game where you play as the Suicide Squad instead of the classic Justice League since they have been brainwashed by Brianiac.
Many have high hopes for this game as it is coming from Rocksteady Studios. Initial gameplay looks fun and exciting, but we have to wait to get our hands on it first to see if it really brings back the old “Arkham” vibes.
Hades 2 (Early 2024)
“Hades 2” an anticipated sequel to “Hades” from Supergiant Games, but this time you play as princess of Hell on a journey to kill time itself and save her father.
From initial looks it seems like the game looks really excellent and well made and I’m sure it is going to be as fun to play as the original “Hades.” Right now there isn’t a confirmed release date, but Supergiant Games did release a statement saying that there could be an early access build coming to pc in early 2024 so we will keep our fingers crossed.
Star Wars Outlaws (TBA 2024)
From Ubisoft, in “Star Wars Outlaws” you play as a non-force wielder, which should be extremely interesting.
The game takes place during the period between “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi”. Right now the initial gameplay looks very fun and exciting, and there is an estimated release date of late 2024.
Marvel’s Wolverine (TBA 2024)
Marvel’s “Wolverine” from the developer of the popular “Spider-Man” series, Insomniac games, has teased a new take on “Wolverine”. The teaser released in 2021 has had lots of people excited to see what Insomniac games has planned for “Wolverine.”
Right now there isn’t a gameplay trailer or much to see but there has been some talk of a 2024 release date so we will hope that we can get our hands on this new release from Insomniac.
Overall, 2024 should be an exciting time for the gaming community with many great games set to come out. We should have a great time playing all these new games and I think that many will enjoy them as well.
This is my first year doing 42 Fifty and I hope to write and record some good news stories
