Oswego High School will host the much-anticipated prom on April 29, 6–11 p.m. Juniors and seniors are encouraged to find dresses, suits, and other formal clothing as they celebrate this year’s new theme, “starry night.”

Prom will be at Bobak’s signature events in Woodridge. Students are expected to enter the event by 7 p.m., and refunds will not be available. Students can also leave at 8 p.m. but will not be allowed back into the event unless they talk to an adult to discuss the reasoning beforehand.

This will be the second prom hosted by Oswego High School since the 2020 and 2021 proms were canceled due to COVID-19 shutdowns.

The options for prom ideas are given to the junior class council, then they narrow them down and hand those ideas to the seniors to choose from.

“I think their inspiration came from the pictures; looked really whimsical,” Jessica Kawulia, an OHS social studies teacher and one of the organizers, said. The event has a 750-person cap. Ticket sales started on March 13 and ended on March 24, for $85 each, and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Each ticket came with two dinner options: vegetarian, which offers pasta as an alternative, and chicken. Each option comes with vegetables, a salad beforehand, and a dessert. Anyone with allergies, questions, or concerns should contact Jennifer Keto or Ms. Kawulia.

Anyone who wanted to bring a guest who is 19 or under, had passes available at the dean’s office for them to purchase. These passes were due on Wednesday, March 22, at 2:30 PM. All guests must be with the OHS student who purchased the tickets for them and must have a photo ID.

To enter the event, you will need your student ID card or the barcode on the Tyler app. The LRC offers school IDs for $5 if you have lost yours. Any student with outstanding fees or “lost privileges” was not allowed to purchase prom tickets.

“We just want it to be really special for everyone. So we’re just hoping that it just looks really put together and organized, and the kids can have a good time.” Ms. Kawulia said.
