My name is Trinity Heard, I am a Senior at Oswego High School, and this is my second year writing for 42Fifty. I am very excited to continue working with the team and help other learn more about journalism. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, baking, and editing. I also am a part of the Student Council as President and work as a crew member at Culvers. I look forward to being involved in 42Fifty as a managing editor for this year.

OH launches Sexual Harassment Awareness Campaign to address survey concerns

Andrea Parker, Assistant Principal, presents the Sexual Harassment Awareness Campaign for Students during academic study halls to share with students the changes in OHS’ sexual harassment procedures. The campaign was created based on the need for change evident from the results of the Student Advisory Board survey last year. OHS will be handling sexual harassment in three new ways: education structure, safety, and support in the building.

Amplify student voices with the OH coalition

In April of the 2021-2022 school year, the newly formed OH Coalition hosted an Amplify event. Because of the newness of the Coalition, many students are unaware of what it entails and the Amplify event it hopes to continue hosting.

Meet Michael Leali: Teacher and writer in one

When walking into room 235, you can find a colorful room filled with books and an eager teacher ready to chat. Michael Leali is an alumnus and teacher of Oswego High School, who is close to publishing his first book, “The Civil War of Amos Abernathy.”

[SATIRE] Prom 2022 to be held at Olive Garden

Olive Garden currently does not have enough workers to supply enough food for both prom and regular customers. The extra cheese for the breadsticks will cost 50 cents per cup, and because someone will need to say “let me know when” for the cheese, each guest will be required to give a $3 tip for waiters. 

Students need real snow days again

I have come to realize that traditional snow days may be of the past. With the COVID-19 pandemic altering the in-person education system, students and staff are now familiar with remote learning. When I was in third grade, I remember fearing rumors of eventually having school at home and never being able to escape. Now that schools have the ability to learn remotely, real snow days are coming to an end. What once was a childhood fear has become more of a present-day nightmare.
