Flashing lights and the heavy bass filled my chest and head, drowning out all other sounds and thoughts as I stood among hundreds of Bryson Tiller fans at his Neo Trapsoul Tour Concert at Tinley Park.
“I couldn't believe, like, he [[was]] right in front of me, and I'm seeing this live compared to just hearing it in my headphones,” said OH junior Emily Estrada of the Sept. 27 concert.
Was it worth the $130 ticket price? Absolutely. It was an indescribable experience to witness one of my favorite artists take the stage, making it hard to believe I was about to hear my favorite songs performed live right in front of me.
The OH varsity football team gave it their all against Minooka during the last home game of the regular season as they looked ahead to Crosstown tonight.
“Last year, we took a loss [[against Minooka]], but this year we came back and we got the dub,” said OH senior varsity football player Tremaine Hanley.
For a home-closer this was a significant match-up. Minooka and Oswego are known for having a friendly rivalry every year. Both schools have good stats and teams, making it a very competitive game each year. Going into the game, Minooka's record was 4-3 and Oswego was 6-1.
Sept. 11, 2001, was a day that Americans will forever remember for its great tragedy, and a day that several OH teachers kept in mind for lessons and connections.
“I think I like to focus not [[just]] on the bad of the day, because everybody talks about the terrible things that happen," OH Social Studies teacher Aaron Henricks said. "I like to also focus in on all of the heroism that so many people showed…I've talked more about like the firefighters: 343 firefighters died that day.”
Sept. 11 was the date of a deadly terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York. Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the attacks by 19 hijackers from the group al-Qaeda.
The impacts of 9/11 were critical to everyone in America, close to the attacks or not. All around the United States was left in a state of shock and fear. A state of silence fell upon the United States.
