OH staff and students predict the Oscars
At the beginning of every year, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announces its nominations for the best of the best actors, directors, movies, and more to receive the highly coveted Oscar Award. Like every year, the Academy is met with both angry and excited movie watchers sharing their opinions on the nominations. Some people believe that the Oscars nominations are not a good reflection of the movies released in 2024. However, that is not the only opinion. “I believe that, usually, what gets nominated is usually pretty deserving,” said OH English and film teacher Amy Severinski.
MLK Day: OH students serve their community
OH celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a national day of service, with a day off of school. Instead of staying home in the warmth of their beds, many student volunteers gathered at the Kendall County Food Pantry to honor Dr. King. “[[Dr. Kings]] life was so full of service and I think that's a wonderful way to honor his legacy and what he did for human rights,” said OH Student Council adviser Anne Sweeney. Oswego Student Council members helped organize food, clothes, and more at the food pantry. Volunteering on MLK Day has been an ongoing tradition for the OH Student Council.

Wicked: A movie full of emotions
A highly unexpected performance by the Wicked cast makes for a great movie-watching experience. Going into the theater you can expect to laugh, listen to great music, and maybe even shed a tear. “I am excited because I am going to see [[Wicked]] with my family over Thanksgiving,” said junior Jessica Bellah.
[TRAD.]
