Fireworks up. Candles lit. Nians prancing. This year, Lunar New Year was celebrated Feb. 10 and ended Feb. 24. Welcoming the new and good into the year ahead and removing the bad and the old.
OH BSA lifts Black voices up during Black History Month
On Feb. 24, 2024, the OH Black Student Association (BSA) hosted its Black Tie Ball for a second year in the OH auxiliary gym, encouraging students to grab their suits and heels.
The SD308 bus is here: New app provides notifications for riders
On Jan. 6, 2023, SD308 notified students through email that Oswego High School would utilize “Here Comes the Bus,” a bus tracking app to help students know where their bus is in the morning and afternoon. ¨The recurrence of my bus being late has caused me to miss my bus multiple times¨ said OHS Junior Kai Beackman.¨The app lets me know how far my bus is in my range.¨
Opinion: Support needed for Indigenous people
Across the U.S., Alaska, and Canada, Indigenous women and girls are being taken and murdered at an unrelenting rate. For decades, Indigenous communities have struggled with high rates of assault, abduction, and murder of women. Sisters, wives, mothers, and daughters are gone without clear answers.
Serving up a win: Pickleball more than just the ‘new tennis’
You may have noticed the recent surge in popularity of pickleball: whether it's the fashion, community, or the game itself, everyone appears to be loving it, even if they do not know much about it. OH junior athlete Sarah Boness “[[heard]] there was a new stadium built around the area but... thought it was a tennis court.” While pickleball and tennis look similar, they are different sports that have both been around for a long time.
