Invincible: The rise of Thragg and the Viltrumite War

"Invincible," which originated as a comic series written by Robert Kirkman and illustrated by Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, has surged to the top of the superhero zeitgeist after receiving an animated show on Amazon Prime Video on Mar. 21, 2021. “I have loved the show Invincible so far,” OH senior Dylan Matjea said. “It has taken the superhero trope and basically flipped it over its head. It’s a huge series.” "Invincible" dumbfounded audiences with its mature storytelling, elaborate plotting, and (most of all) massive amounts of animated gore. It was a much-needed shock to the system that still exerts significant cultural influence.

"Ready or Not 2 Here I Come" was a sequel to "Ready or Not" in 2019, which had a very interesting theme of comedy mixed with horror and action. "Ready or Not" began with Grace marrying the man of her dreams at his family's luxurious estate. There's just one catch: The family made a demonic pact requiring her to now hide from midnight until dawn while her new in-laws hunt her with guns, crossbows, and other weapons.

Pieces of the puzzle brought back: Resident Evil Requiem returns to classic gameplay

Tomorrow, the new Resident Evil Requiem will be released after being announced by Capcom July 2024. Directed by Koshi Nakanishi, who previously directed Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the game was officially unveiled at Summer Game Fest in June 2025. Resident Evil Requiem is a single-player survival horror game in which the player assumes the role of FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and DSO agent Leon S. Kennedy, with the game alternating between the two characters throughout the story. Grace's sections are more focused on survival horror with limited resources that require the player to be more cautious in encounters. Resident Evil Requiem commemorates the series' 30th anniversary. Former OH student Dylan Hospes said, “Resident Evil has come a long way since the days of 10 controls. The evolution of technology has made the game seem more realistic and scary. The series became more action-focused, then returned to its horror roots.”

Black Ops: A dying legacy

The Black Ops series released a highly-anticipated seventh edition recently, and it has been highly disappointing. As seen here, it is just more of the same. Credit: Pierre Vargas, 42Fifty

On Nov. 14, 2025, Activision released its seventh title in the Black Ops series, Black Ops 7 (BO7). This was with partners like Treyarch, Raven Software, Infinity Ward, and Sledgehammer Games. Interestingly, there is a gap, anywhere from two to four years, when the Blacks Ops games were released between 2010 to 2024. And players of the game took notice. OH senior Malachi Curtis said, “To make BO7 better, they should’ve developed it more and just not released it as soon as they did.” Taking time to make something will pretty much make it better every time.
