Etched in memory: OH Wall of Honor renewed
At the beginning of February, what students had come to know as the Wall of Honor, had become an empty wall. In a short amount of time, they would see the active construction of the new, modern take on the OH star-spangled Wall of Honor. “It was time to look to something a little bit more modern with digital imaging,” said OH Assistant Principal and head football coach Brian Cooney, who was recently honored at the Navy All-American Bowl game. The Wall of Honor is a memorial next to the main office and door 36 to honor OH alum who chose military service after high school. The Wall serves a similar purpose as others within the school, like the many that show athletic or educational excellence; those who choose the military path are shown the same recognition. The old Wall of Honor held eight frames with 5x6 rows lined with pictures of past alumni, featuring a total of 240 past or current military members. “[[The Wall of Honor is]] to pay respects for those who went into the military and defended our country, and did what they needed to do to give us the freedoms that we have here in America,” said Cooney.
Setting the pace: First OH boys track meet brings home wins
After an initial delay, Sat. Feb. 14 saw the first OH boys' track's first meet at Hononegah Community High School, and the team started the season off strong with many great performances. Within team events, OH managed to take home first in both the 4x200 Relay and the 4x800 Relay. In singles competition, OH senior Dylan Johnson placed third in the 200 meters, OH junior Jezhiah Sprinkle was right behind him, taking fourth place; Sprinkle also took second in the 60-meter hurdles. OH sophomore Bo Breed took fifth in the 1600 meter race. “It’s good to be back running and just getting back into the swing of things," said OH senior Jack Wandoloski," [[and it]] keeps my hopes high for the season."
Expedition 33 creates a ‘fracture’ in the video game industry
Gaming awards this winter, The Game Awards and The Indie Game Awards, leave a stain on our minds and many other gamers. Were the results deserved? AI was so heavily used in developing the start of the show, the results were questionable to say the least. Expedition 33, developed by Sandfall Interactive, was released April 24, 2025, originally to great acclaim and praise. As more details came out on the development and team behind the game, though, a controversial landslide was created regarding the awards it took home.
Aligned dance date causes concern with students, community
or many years, homecoming week and the eventual main event, the homecoming dance at OH and surrounding high schools has been a time of excitement and fun for all. More importantly though for all the nearby schools, the homecoming dance was on different days. This October, students, parents, and teachers experienced a very unusual homecoming phenomenon as the dance for all schools was set to be the date of October 4th. The homecoming dance for OH, OE, and Yorkville High School, and others around have never been scheduled to be the same day in past years. So when the news hit that they were scheduled the same day many students were met with confusion and frustration as some were forced to choose between schools, whether that be for friends or dates they planned to go with. “I was confused because they’re on different days for a reason and lots of people go to both so I was upset about it.” said OE senior Sophia Rojas. “It was hard because either one of us had to miss our own senior hoco or we didn’t get to go together and go on our own but I didn’t want him to have to miss his because of me so I decided for us to go to OHS.”
Eleven-Eleven and four-leafed clovers: Conan Gray’s Wishbone an emotional album
The pop industry has been booming this summer with many artists adding to their ever-expanding catalogs with new snippets, songs, and albums. One of the most notable artists this summer was Conan Gray, famous for his debut album ‘Kid Krow." He has welcomed a new album into his discography. Wishbone has taken the streaming world by storm since it was released to all streaming platforms on Aug. 15. With Conan Gray being one of the most popular and influential artists of recent years, fans weren’t very surprised when the album was released, that it was another well put together and well thought out hit, reaching 38,857,436 streams in the first week of its release. “I think it was a very cohesive album, and I mean album in the fullest sense of creating songs that go very well together,” said OH junior Delaney Segarra.
