The Oswego Hockey Club kicked off with their first JV game vs Waubonsie Valley Warriors on Sept. 10 at all Seasons Ice Rinks, and it was a season starter with a lot of history behind it.
OH junior and JV and varsity player Jake Reppy shared excitement about how he feels playing for the team and his experience playing hockey for the Oswego Hockey Club, particularly with his brother Mark Reppy, who is currently out on injury.
“I love playing alongside my brother on JV,” but on varsity it’s different,” Jake said about being teammates with his little brother.
“[Its] great,” Jake Reppy smiled. “I like the teams this year, I think we are going to do well this year. Hopefully really well, [because] we have a solid team… [that] could push for playoffs and we are going to try to do that.”
On Sept. 13, Oswego faced off against Oak Park River Forest, winning 3-2. During the periods, the team worked extremely well together on the ice and with the plays they got from the coaches.
OH sophomore Luke Radja earned the winning point, and said “I was feeling scared at the end, but luckily I was able to get it and bury the win.”
Radja was celebrated for getting the winning shot, and the team was extremely happy they got the win against Oak Park River Forest.
After the game, Yorkville sophomore player Carson MacLennan commented on his relationship with the team as a non-Oswego club member.
“It’s great, I love playing for the team,” MacLennan explained. ”It’s very good, we all go way back, we used to play when we were a little together.”
That kind of unity, among schools and players, is part of what makes the Oswego Hockey Club strong, and Coach Lee agrees.
“I’m just really excited to be a part of something,” Lee said of his team. “It’s up and coming.”
