OH’s annual Powder Puff game brought the energy to the field Fri. night, Oct. 1 as the juniors faced off against the seniors in a heated flag football match-up.
With loud cheers echoing from the student section and both juniors and seniors sections showing pride, the game ended with the juniors pulling off a hard-fought 6–0 victory over the seniors.
The game started off tight, with both teams battling to find momentum. The first half remained scoreless as defenses on both sides refused to give in. It wasn’t until late in the second half that the juniors broke through with a short touchdown pass that sealed the win.
Junior student coach Austin Verde loved his team’s focus and determination throughout the practices leading to the game. “We worked hard during practices and stayed disciplined,” Verde said. “The seniors were a tough competition, but the junior girls showed heart.”
Junior player Anellyse Guzman shared what the victory meant to her and her teammates.
“It feels amazing,” Guzman said, smiling after the game. “We ended with a win, but we trusted each other and gave it everything we had. That touchdown made all the difference.”
Despite the loss, senior player Emily Raabe reflected positively on the experience.
“Of course we wanted to win, but this game was about more than that,” Raabe said. “It’s about school spirit, having fun with friends, and creating memories before graduation. I’m proud of how we played.”
The stands were packed with students wearing class colors and chanting throughout the night. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and school pride, making it one of the most spirited events of the year.
In the end, the juniors celebrated their victory with cheers and smiles, marking the game as one to remember. The powder puff tradition once again brought OH together for a night of friendly competition, laughter, and memories.
