OH used to have hallway music during passing periods, but now hallways are all but silent. Why? The lack of music during those six minutes has caused a divide among student opinions. To play or not to play? That is the question.

“In the past, passing period music was put on pause due to AP testing…Recently, there has not been any music due to complications with the intercom system in the school,” said Assistant Principal Brian Cooney.

Since the pause, students have been reflecting in silence on how the change has affected their everyday routine.

The music brought a sense of liveliness to the hallways and helped with time management as the music would turn off a minute until the bell. However, some students viewed it as chaotic as it became too noisy in the hallways.

“I think that music in the hallways was kinda pointless cause most of the time people weren’t even listening to it,” said junior Keven McIntosh.

Although there are differing opinions, most wish the tunes would return. 42Fifty reporter Chayse White reports out in a video below.
