Throughout the year, OH Orange Crew leaders have planned for all the sporting events. From creating fun themes and making posters to cheering on the teams at their games, they are always involved.

“I would spend multiple hours a week hand painting banners for the football games and making posters,” said OH senior and Orange Crew leader Grace Braun. “Additionally, I helped design both the LLSF shirt and the Orange Crew merch that we produced and gave out or sold to other students.”

Orange Crew leadership has found many different ways to split jobs among themselves.

“We all have different roles. Someone says the theme, another does the chants, another passes out powder, etc. We all split up the responsibilities to ensure the student section is successful,” said OH senior and Orange Crew leader Kate Epstein.

At the games, many things get the crowd engaged with the game. The Orange Crew team has to come up with many ideas to make them fun for everyone.

“Most of the chants this year were either old chants or ones that have been trending on social media. If we see a new one that looks fun and popular we add it to our normal chants at games,” said Braun.

The blend of new and classic chants helps keep the team’s spirit up and gives them the extra boost for the rest of the game.

“I think one of the biggest challenges was trying to get enough people involved at the games, especially the freshmen who are quiet because they are new,” said OH senior and Orange Crew leader Payton Shaw.

On top of getting students at OH involved in the chants, some are even more excited to go to games when they see the leaders posting the themes.

“We encourage new students by promoting a lot of things through social media. We go throughout the student section encouraging people to be loud and cheer for the team,” said Epstein.

While the leaders try to reach out to everyone throughout the school, they also have to get hype for every game to support the school teams.

“I constantly update schedules and make eye-catching posts for our Orange Crew account on social media to encourage students to participate,” said Braun.

All year long, the hard-working leaders have striven to make the student section exciting for all students.

“I am happy that throughout the year we have kept the student section safe and made sure people were having fun and participating throughout the whole season,” said Shaw.

Within the games, the leaders are to ensure everyone is included and to represent a good model of what the next upcoming orange crew leaders will be doing.

“I think we play a big role in players’ performance because when the student section is the hype it can help the players feel more confident knowing they have lots of support from our school,” said Epstein.

With the school year coming to an end, this year’s Orange Crew leaders will pick a new group of students to keep the tradition of Orange Crew going strong in coming years.

To follow the excitement, Panthers are encouraged to check out the Orange Crew Instagram.
