The OH Winter Guard competed this weekend at Schaumburg High School, finishing first in their group and first overall in the Scholastic Regional A class, jumping 11 points from their previous score according to co-sponsor Lauren Rogers.

This year’s Winter Guard Program is one of the youngest in a while. At their most recent events, they placed first twice, which is an accomplishment for such a young team.

OH junior and team captain junior Morgan Pawlisz said,“I am very proud of our achievements as a winter guard this year. Even in our first season as a team, I feel that we have already made our mark in the circuit of teams. Speaking for myself and the rest of my team, we are very proud and excited to see what the rest of the season has in store for us.”

Pawlisz also shared that “as a Captain of the Winter Guard, I am always watching to see who is doing well with what, and that includes teaching others and using my leadership skills.

Being Captain of the Winter Guard is a big responsibility because she in charge of keeping morale high, and your leadership skills must be amazing because in this role it is up to you how good the team does.

“As Captain of the Winter Guard, I am always watching to see who is doing well with what, and that includes teaching others and using my leadership skills,” said Pawlisz.

According to the Midwest Color Guard Circuit, on Feb. 2 and 16, OH Winter Guard achieved first in the two contests at Schaumburg and Naperville Central.

At the another recent competition in Minooka on March 8, Oswego placed first. They scored highest in their class among the groups at that contest, and jumped 11 points from their previous score a few weeks ago. Based on scores from all of the circuit contests this weekend they are currently sitting within the top several units of the 27 in our competitive class.

This year’s Winter Guard is young with many team members full of talent. This year’s roster works hard as one to show commitment and pride for OH. This young group should do great things in years to come.

Oswego’s final contest of the 2025 season will be at the Midwest Color Guard Circuit.

Championships, held at Victor J. Andrew High School in Tinley Park, will be on Sat., March 29.
