We have all been there, needing the perfect article, slide template, or tool for a class. However, your screen is filled with little gnomes displaying that the website is blocked.

“When I was writing research papers in college composition a lot of time the websites would be blocked even though it was an academic page. It was frustrating when I [was] just trying to complete my homework,” an OH student survey participant said.

The censorship over school district-issued devices is necessary as it provides limited access to the internet. This includes distracting features such as games which take students away from their learning.

“[Websites] get filtered through our Securely system…if a website is flagged as a certain category it would be blocked,” OH Tech Director, Jaclyn King said, “So for example, games, that’s one of our biggest blocked categories.”
