During the month of Oct., OH students express their enjoyment of seasonal activities, including local haunted houses like Massacre Haunted House and Fright Fest, to get into the fall mood.

Many students flock to different haunted houses, but that doesn’t mean everyone’s scare tolerance is the same. “[Because] I go to a lot of haunted houses, Fright Fest is nothing,” said senior Maddie Lorhman.

Some students go with big groups and some go with smaller groups. Going with a certain number of people can impact the experience with the scarers. “I feel like the actors are more attracted to your group if it is bigger,” said Lorhman.

OH senior Sammy Sawicki attended Massacre with a smaller group but was not disappointed in the quality of the haunted house. “I went with one other girl but it was still scary to us in a smaller group,” said Sawicki.

OH senior Alexander Robledo attended Massacre Haunted House with a large group but due to the group’s size it was very hectic. “My group had to split off because there were so many of us,” said Robeldo.

Massacre is one of the popular local haunted houses. Sawicki expressed how it’s not the scariest one out there, though: “it was not as scary as all the other ones though,” she said.

Even though the massacre was not as scary it was still crowded. Sawicki said, “The line was super long.”

People go yearly to the haunted houses, not knowing what to expect with the different scares.  Robeldo said, “It wasn’t that scary, but there were a lot of jump scares.”

Everyone enjoys the different frights the haunted houses give you. “I love all the haunted houses in the area; they are all different and exciting in their own way,” said Sawicki.

Students want to be in the best fall mood possible, and haunted houses spike up the Halloween spirit. “The music they were playing at fright fest was very Halloween, and I love Halloween [[…]] it just felt like good vibes,” Lorhman said.
