Throughout the month of September, students at OH start coming up with intricate ways to ask other students to Homecoming. Proposals are a fan favorite for everyone involved and get everyone excited for the spirited events.
“I do think I’m going to get asked [to Homecoming by a HoCo proposals] because I have a boyfriend,” said OH senior Jordan Trader. Like Trader, many students go through the week wondering if they are going to be asked, and some even know they are going to be asked.
“I think it would be fun if we had one dance that flipped [who asks who,] but I still have a good time with it,” said OH senior Patrick O’Toole.
Seniors feel the importance of homecoming, as this is their last one as OH Panthers, and some students want their HoCo porposals to be a special, big gesture since it is their last.
O’Toole said of his plans, “I’ll [work to] make it more special than the ones before.”
Everyone has their own ways of how they want to be asked to homecoming, whether there is some big gesture or a simple, small gesture. OH senior Julia Matile said, “I like small gestures, but I also appreciate big gestures.”
The smaller, more simple gesture, is preferred by Trader, who said, “I wouldn’t want to be asked at a football game… that seems scary to me.”
Asking someone can be nerve-racking for some students. They are putting themselves out there and trying to come up with clever ideas for their proposals. O’Toole said, “I’m nervous, but I know she’ll say yes.”
Hoco proposals can be an enjoyable, memorable part of the fall experience, and an entertaining first step to get ready for the OH Homecoming dance.
Every student finds their own way that makes it fun for them. Matile agreed with the effort put into homecoming proposals, and said, “It is very sweet, and I’m glad [people] put in the effort.”

Love this! Great work!!
