Senior Column: Finding a home away from home
When I was a little girl, I struggled to get up in the morning for school. It was always something with me, whether I pretended to throw up or I miraculously gained a headache within 30 minutes of waking up. I was the queen of excuses... and then COVID hit. Being stuck in my room was the least of my worries; it only brought the love to stay in my room to be at an all-time high, as the world was fearing for what was to come of this virus. Eighth grade was my first full year back, and I used my mother’s fear of the virus as another way to gain sympathy for why I should stay home. So I did.
Tomodachi Life: Living the dream or ACNH’s reheated nachos?
When you think of popular games in the 2010s, your mind may go to Tomodachi Life, a social simulator game for the 3DS. With its wide customization of “Mii” characters, ranging from different hairstyles, faces, and even a new face paint tool to free-hand any custom designs. With an island for your Mii’s to roam around, talk to others, and decide that a lightpost is necessary in the middle of the beach. Nintendo decided that with the release of the Switch 2, it may be time for the game to have a sequel, and to revive the old fanbase left behind. But was this a good choice? On Apr. 12, the internet took a storm as Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream was leaked, with the planned release date being the 16th.
New OH club provides opportunity for civic engagement
As the '25-26 school year comes to a close, a new OH club, Club America, is on the rise. With this club officially opening back in January, membership numbers have steadily increased, and plans for the '26-27 school year are already underway. “It’s a place where [[club members]] can come and express their opinions freely,” Club America sponsor and AP Chemistry teacher Lesli Barron said. “It gives them a place where they know that their rightful presence is respected.” The goal of the club is to allow students to have an outlet for civil discourse while learning more about present-day issues around the world.
Kevin Langue: YouTube comedian turned tour star
Even though comedy may seem to be a less popular category of entertainment, the Kevin Langue Show (KLS) is a comedy YouTube channel with over four million subscribers. Langue's connections and humor have brought a huge community together of fans all over the world. The main cast consists of Kevin Langue, Denny Love, Aaron Branch, and Herman Wrice. With these four friends, they have developed a loyal fanbase as they join together to announce the Kevin Langue Show Tour on March 2. “I think it’s so different because of how close all of them are, and how open they are, like [having] guests and stuff, especially on [[Kevin Langue Show 2]],” said OH sophomore Angie Berger.
Video: OH students prepare for spring ACT
State-wide testing has never failed to stress out students. Even with in-class preparation and support, some feel unprepared, may not care about it, or feel unmotivated to do well. It’s a tale as old as time, being confused about what’s going to occur on the day-of. OH ACT Prep teacher Thomas Hart is determined for all of his students to feel well prepared, motivated, and capable of their abilities to thrive during the test. “We start the semester with a base line of practice tests. We also have a textbook where we’ve done a lot of practice sets because that’s really what we’re trying to focus on” said Hart.
