Senior Column: What it is like to learn and live two languages
Walking through the halls of high school, you’ll hear hundreds of voices. Most of them speak English, and a few switch into Spanish. I live north of those sounds every day, and while it is a gift, it has also been one of the hardest things about my high school experience. As a Spanish speaker, I sometimes felt like I had to translate my identity just to be understood. Whether I was in class or working on a project, I always had to double-check that my grammar was “right,” that my accent didn’t slip in, or that I wasn't using a word that didn’t make sense in English
Behind the scenes: LASO’s El Baile brings culture and community to life
The bright sounds of festive music, varieties of mouth-watering scents, and waves of laughter filled the OH auxillary gym for El Baile, "the dance" or "dance party," as the Latin American Student Organization (LASO) hosted the cultural event “It’s Baile” on Sat., April 26. While students enjoyed the music, food, and dancing at the event, much of the event's success came from the months of extensive preparation and teamwork behind the scenes. “LASO wanted to make an event for everyone to enjoy Latinx culture,” said OH Spanish teacher and LASO sponsor Jessica Yandun.
You Temporada 5: Tal Vez el Problema somos nosotros

Ya sea en casa o como visitantes, el equipo varsity de fútbol femenino ha tenido una temporada muy exitosa y ha alcanzado nuevas alturas. Con un récord actual de 14-2-2, el equipo ha superado barreras y ha llenado de orgullo a la comunidad de OH. “Uno de mis momentos favoritos de la temporada fue nuestro partido contra Oswego East el 29 de abril,” dijo la estudiante de tercer año Destany Luna. “Ese juego fue importante para nosotras porque fue dedicado a Sean Fader. Ganar ese partido mostró lo dedicadas que estamos como equipo para lograr nuestras metas.”
Érase una vez en el baile: Coronan al Rey y la Reina del Baile de OH ’25
Bajo el resplandor de las luces del DJ y entre los vítores de sus amigos, los estudiantes de último año Jazlyn Abella y Brendan Bisgrove fueron coronados Reina y Rey del Baile el sábado 3 de mayo. La corte del baile de 2025 estuvo compuesta por Bryson Norwood, Thomas Eberle, Brogan Kelsey, Adam Woods, Brendan Bisgrove, Rhiana Martinez, Shaniya Love, Kate Epstein, Jazlyn Abella y Candice Tufuor.
