In the event of a breaking news situation, 42Fifty will publish a short news brief as soon as possible. It will only include confirmed facts that are useful to our readership and fit our standards of newsworthiness. If updates occur within 48 hours, our reporting team will work to update the initial article with additional facts and coverage. The longer piece may include additional interviews, details, and/or feelings of students/staff about the initial event. After 48 hours, our reporting team will work on developing new articles for publication.
The editors may choose not to publish certain confirmed information if they determine that its publication would cause additional harm or panic. Our goal as a staff is to report the truth while minimizing harm; this policy is guided by our Code of Ethics.
