Gen V: the boys’s spinoff gets another season full of action and political views\

With the amazing ending of the latest season of The Boys, the students of Gen V are back and ready to fight against the ones who’ve hurt them. Gen V season two gives us a continuation on the whereabouts of the super students and gives the team more challenges to face.

“When season two was announced, I was very excited I’ve been watching the episodes as soon as they came out,” said OH senior Kyle Taylor.

I will refrain from spoiling as much as possible from the recent episodes. If you would like to watch Gen V, it is available only on Amazon Prime.

The boys bring back the students Sam, Emma myer, Jordan Li, Cate Dunlap, and Marie Monroe. With the sad and tragic passing of Chance Perdomo on March 30, 2024, he will not be in any future episodes, and they have decided to fit his tragic death into their story. 

“The one thing that stood out to me was the pour out they had with [Andre],” said OH graduate Jack Beaudette.

With Gen V already releasing seven out of the eight episodes, we get to see them fight their greatest foe yet, one already seen before. Dean Cipher, played by Hamish Linklater, is the new dean of Godolkin University. Friend or foe, Cipher’s story is really compelling.

The show also gives watchers a few new characters aside from Dean Cipher. Greg, played by Stephen Kalyn, along with his sister and her friend, Harper, played by Jessica Clement, and Ally, played by Georgie Murphy. 

We also get insight into a very important character. Thomas Godolkin, the creator of Godolkin university, is shown briefly with the backstory of Gen V and its failures. Godolkin plays a huge role in “The Boys” series.

The season keeps their political stance strong, hitting slight references in their socials to real America situations. One of the most popular and recognizable references would be the “herogasm files” referencing the Epstein files not being released.

Gen V also uses American politics widely in the new season, keeping its true meaning strong with the fight between the “starlighters”, which could reference the democratic party vs the “Homelanders”, which also could reference the republican party.

 The show continues its hit on American politics and corruption throughout the episodes with the American idols with dark hidden secrets, Superhumans (also known as supes) claiming to be a “minority” yet superior race, and much more. 

Keeping up with the socials gives slight hints on how the next episode will play out. Some posts like Marie Monroe versus Jordan Li fight really make the show feel like it’s happening in real time.

With the last few episodes wrapping up, many speculate it’ll end with a bang, giving more insight into how it’ll play out in the final season of “The Boys”. With rumored leaks of the next episode, it’s most likely to be a big episode.

“I’ve seen the leak and I think it’ll fit into the next season of ‘The Boys’,” said OH junior Jakiya Sams, “My theory is Maria is going to heal Butcher and Butcher’s going to kill Homelander.”

With the leaks going around, many assume it’ll have Gen V connected with the ending, killing Homelander just as the comics did. Though Amazon has tried to stray away from the way the comics played out, creating Gen V.

“I think [Marie] is going to be the one to help out with Homelander and help Butcher defeat him,” Said Taylor, “The TV show has gone a way different direction from the comics.”

“The episodes are good,” said Beaudette, “it kept the feel of tons of blood and what would happen if people in the real world had powers.”

Now, with only a few more episodes to go, the season is getting more and more exciting with cliffhangers that keep watchers wanting more each week. and what would happen if people in the real world [had] powers.”
