Homecoming 2025 is a special time for all grade levels to express themselves by getting glammed up for a good time.
It’s always great to highlight the main part of an event, for this occasion, that is, dresses and fashion.
“I like the excitement of it,” said OH senior Savanna Morris. “Especially because I’m a senior now, it will be really fun to do all the themes they have for the week.”
Not only is Homecoming fun, it’s a great place to show creative style. There are countless ways to express one’s individualism through dresses or suits.
Some homecoming dresses throughout the years have consisted of sparkles, corsets, silk, mini dresses, and floral designs. This year, there are a variety of different trends circulating.
Styles from the early 2000s are coming back, such as animal print and sequins. As well as new fads like fitted dresses and the minimalist style.
But overall, what everyone hates to see is a boring or unoriginal outfit. “I like that they’re all different and everyone is for them, you know,” said OH senior Evelynn Longson, “It’s all new stuff.” So if there are some issues regarding a dress looking different from the rest, go for it, uniqueness is what’s in style.
If the plan is to stick to the basics, then make sure to plan ahead. Some go over a month in advance, others wait until the week before.
It’s always better to get a dress too early than too late, so everyone can “look snazzy,” as OH senior Hassan Lawal said, as he expressed that he believes everyone should look nice for special events such as Homecoming.
Well, everyone may look nice, but the real question is, does anyone really follow the theme? This year’s magical theme is Enchanted Garden. “The theme is cute, I don’t really know what to do,” said Longson.
However, a lot of people tend to dress based on a one-of-a-kind style, so they don’t feel it’s necessary to follow the theme.
“I don’t think shoes fit with the dress,” explained Longson when she shared her opinion on whether wearing shoes or heels to homecoming is better. “But you still should bring shoes with you, yes.”
Everyone wears both heels and shoes, so either is a perfect option. It’s all a matter of comfort. Homecoming is a main event for uniqueness and style; it is time to see where fashion is and where it will be headed.
