The Uni Uni bubble tea shop located at 26 W. Jefferson Avenue, Naperville, provides a variety of unique and tasty drinks and is a great place to visit with friends. The shop customizes its store and drinks to keep up with trends and make the environment a comfortable and light place for customers.
“Each employee is taught the importance of quality within the drinks, and we pride ourselves on our use of fresh fruit, quality tea, and masterful preparation,” said Uni Uni assistant manager and social media manager, OH senior Rae Lustig. “One of our regulars visits Taiwan regularly, and consistently claims we’re the best boba place nearby!”
This past June and July, Uni Uni took over the store from Elite Boba, while their sister location in Chinatown has been open since 2020.
“The atmosphere is positive; the walls are very bright, but there are also many Gatcha and display cases. I think it is a very light and fun atmosphere,” said OH senior Lydia Freeman.
The shop gives away free drinks biweekly if you follow its Instagram, which Lustig handles. This reveals its connection with the community and care for its customers’ overall experience.
“My favorite part about working at Uni Uni would have to be the free drinks, but also the sense of voice you get as an employee,” said Lustig. “From how staff are utilized, many employees can show off and celebrate their individual strengths and connections.”
Their seasonal drinks are carefully thought out to match the weather perfectly and to add a personal, unique touch to the menu all year round.
“We are also currently working on our merchandise expansion! The keychains and stuffed animals we offer are adorable and decently priced,” said Lustig. “You can spot one of our Capybara Keychains in [OH teacher] Mr. Horn’s room!”
Alongside this expansion, Uni Uni collaborates with a neighboring local business Sweet General Bakery for unique yet delicious sweets such as the Chocolate Box Cake, Tiramisu Crepe Cake, and Oolong Coconut Pudding, which are very high quality in texture and taste.
From the freshness of their carefully made drinks, the individuality of each employee, their interaction, and spirited yellow branding, Uni Uni is set apart from other bubble tea shops and adds a spark of merriment to the customers’ experience.
