The long-awaited album from Drake and PartyNextDoor, “$$$4U,” is out and has been getting mixed reviews since its release. Despite this, OH students will definitely be adding some songs from the album to their playlists.
Due to Drake’s ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar post-Superbowl, fans wondered how he would respond in his next release. However, the album was ultimately disconnected from the disses. According to students at OH, Drake exceeded expectations.
“ I loved it. I like some of the other [albums] better, but I think it was good, fresh, [and] different, the way Drake approached it,” said OH junior Mariano Velasco.
Drake has given us some classics on this album. Songs like “Nokia,” “Gimme A Hug,” and “Cn Tower” are some of the songs going viral right now, but OH seems to think “Nokia” is the best song on the album with its explosive beat.
“ My favorite song was Nokia. It had a nice beat to it. I don’t really listen to the lyrics as much; I like the beats more,” said OH junior Cole Kelly.
Even though there seem to be some good Drake songs on the album, people are noticing the absence of PartyNextDoor on the album. Party appears on most of the songs on the album but doesn’t get the role he deserves on them.
“I wanted a little more Party [NextDoor] on the album. I wanted more of the R&B album we were expecting instead of more regular Drake,” said junior Chase Berkson.
Although PartyNextDoor’s absence is felt throughout the album, he still delivers some great verses, such as in “Cn Tower” and “Moth Balls.”
Overall, the album has received positive reviews after some time, and it’s safe to say that Drake and PartyNextDoor have delivered another great album to listeners that is reaching high on the charts.
