OH students will be adding more music from SZA to their playlists this season as she releases her most anticipated deluxe to her sophomore album S.O.S. on all streaming services.

The deluxe album was released almost three years after the original release of S.O.S., sparking some controversy about whether it was worth the wait.

“I feel as if having the album delayed multiple times set the standards for the new album high. I feel the deluxe does not the standard,” said OH senior Caasi Lopez.

Unfortunately, fans of the popular R&B artist have leaked the songs on the album before its release, giving SZA more hurdles than needed.

“When people leak my songs, they ruin them,” SZA was reported saying in a recent interview with The Variety

Soon, the leaks became too much for her, ultimately causing her to delay the album. However, the delay gave the artist more time to finetune her artistic abilities through her music. With people finding the album challenging to appreciate due to the timing, it seems well-received by most peers. SZA also explores uncharted territories and switches up her musical style in the new album.

OH senior Bella Johnson said, “It was a good album, I loved the new vibe and instrumental.”

The majority of listeners appreciate SZA’s shift in musicality, especially with the new feel of the album. It is especially important to note her departure from R&B and into more mainstream pop.

OH senior Mariana Corral said “It had changed. Before, it felt more authentic.”

One thing to note about the popular artist is that she loves to experiment with all forms of media.

From making R&B/Rap music to starring in movie films. She emphasizes her creativity whenever she makes music, which is shown by the loyalty and love of her fans at OH. Since the majority of the feedback was positive, the album was a success.
