During the holiday season, the OH BIONIC (Believe It Or Not I Care) kindness club gives to families in need. The program is run by health teacher Wendy Monn, health teacher Colleen Predl, gym teacher Rachel Zeifert, and the student board members. The BIONIC giving trees help families in need to enjoy their holidays.
“BIONIC giving trees are ways BIONIC gives back to the community during the holiday season by getting support from the community to get holiday items for families in need,” said Predl.
BIONIC wants to give back to the families for the holiday season. They get gifts from all around the community for what they think the families would need or would want.

“It first helps fulfill people’s needs, but we also try to give people gifts that are wants because they may never be able to buy it for themselves,” said BIONIC board member and senior Alyssa Grays.
People from all over the community and school donate gifts from different types of stores and places to give to people in need. It is all collected at the school, put under the trees, and sent out to the families.
“You put the items a family needs under the tree and you create a Christmas day [present] opening experience for families who are struggling,” said BIONIC board member and senior Evelyn Snyder.
Each year, new families are nominated to be helped by the BIONIC giving trees so they can collect gifts to give to them.
“We get several nominations for families, I think this year we have ten families we are gathering gifts for,” said Predl.
There are tons of students who participate and want to help the families in need. They help organize the gifts to give out to the families during the holiday season.
“Participat[ing] makes them feel good that they’re giving back to their community and makes them feel like they’re doing something good for their community,” said Predl.
Helping with the BIONIC giving trees helps give students a sense of holiday cheer.
Grays said, “I love it; it’s a great way to spread holiday cheer and make someone’s season brighter. These trees can truly impact someone’s holiday.”
Donating gifts towards BIONIC really helps families during the holiday season and is a great way to make people feel good.
